My son and I both dreamed more than once recently about having a big wad of gum in our mouth. We are trying to get rid of it but we can't spit it all out. When I try to spit the gum out there is always more. It gets stuck in my teeth. My son dreamed the exact same. Neither of us are gum chewers in real life.

The similar dream that both you and son had shows that you and your son are deeply concerned about similar issues and it is possible both you and your son find yourselves indecisive and powerless on how to deal with the issue and resolve the issue. However if you commit those issues to God, you may find it is easier to deal with it

I believe both of your dreams are indicating a, perhaps, generational struggle that the enemy has put in place to not only make receiving and processing spiritual nourishment more difficult, but also your ability to speak more difficult. He is continuing to try and fill your life with things that will not satisfy or nourish you, despite how hard you try to clean it out.
Pray the Lord would remove this barrier once and for all!
