I had this dream this past weekend:
I was driving down the highway in my car. It was a sunny day. As I was driving, a bright blue butterfly passed in front of my car. I smiled and thought it was interesting. Then, I began to see multiple butterflies passing in front of my car as I drove (two at a time, then one, then another). Many were yellow and some were blue like the first one. I began to count them out loud in the dream and was having fun counting (1, 2, 3, 4. . .) I counted a total of 21 butterflies.
(This is a very compelling and powerful dream for me in particular. I am not a "butterfly person" or someone who is into butterflies, does that make sense? :) However, for the last 12 months, I have been seeing butterflies (Monarchs, white and yellow ones) pass in front of me while I'm walking or driving in real life. I've never had a dream with them, but it has almost become repetitive/common place to see them during the day when I'm at work or driving to my house. So even in the dream, I was enjoying the experience because I thought it was real life and was surprised to see them in a sleeping dream.)
Thank you @The Clouds @Yvette Griffea-Gray @Michael B. French - I remember this dream when I had it in July/August sparked a curiosity in me but I was unsure what that feeling of curiosity and hopefulness meant. I wondered what I should be hopeful about?
I didn't feel it then but I can see in last few weeks that I have been on a strange journey of transformation and growth - one that hasn't "felt" like growth. All summer I've been struggling, feeling liking I'm decaying spiritually or losing revelation. I was feeling like God wasn't speaking to me and didn't plan to.
:) Today I feel that my life is growing and transforming and I feel hopeful that God will continue speaking to me and bringing revelation. I can look back on the summer now with His eyes and see that He has been with me and hasn't abandoned me. . .there was growth happening that I didn't see.
@Havilah M. I think both @The Clouds and @Yvette Griffea-Gray are on target with their interpretations. I might add that I believe that this season of transformation is designed to bring new hope and revelation at its core. I believe that the Lord is also affirming that you are reaching a new level of maturity in your spiritual growth.

Just practicing... I think your dream is saying that the journey you are on right now is marked by transformation and revelation from God and that you are having fun with this experience.
